Phoenix Rising from the Ashes
Posted in News on 03/08/2010 08:08 pm by jollycabbageGlastonbury never ceases to impress. The air is thick with magic and creativity, and the Phoenix Project, which houses us for the week, adopts a calm and safe atmosphere, thanks to the superb work of the ceaselessly determined Liz Beech, allowing the work we do there to go really deep.
Both workshops brought many new faces and old friends. The week concentrated on Circle Plays, a profoundly intense form of theatre that allows the performer to turn themselves inside out, performing their inner worlds outwardly, armed with a question they wish to ask about themselves. This week of Circle Plays opened up the company to each other’s worlds and flavoured the weekend workshops with renewed vigour and creative freedom.
Jonathan and the Fools performed at Bridie’s Yard, a wholesale organic food co-op just outside of town, run by delightful folks who were wonderfully supportive and supplied us with great quantities of delicious soup!
That sees the completion of the southern part of our journey, as Jonathan and the Academy set their sights north and make their way next to Birmingham. This will be our first visit to the city, so if you’re local do come along and say hello. We will be at Friction Arts, who we are very much looking forward to working with and getting to know better! It will also be Jonathan’s 60th birthday this month and we will be celebrating in style during our week at Friction Arts, so pop over to personally give him your birthday wishes!
